ABOUT US
"REBIRTH" is an awareness intended right- based campaign, to review the condition of girl - child and their negligence in New Delhi.
The campaign focuses to target the areas of South Delhi and is a student led initiative to question the staggering rates conforming to the menace of Gendercide in India. We attempt to mark a difference, to critically analyze the situation and reasons for the continued manner of discrimination against the girl child.
Our main attempt is to spread awareness about the inalienable constitutional Right to Life of the girl child among school and college-going students who, we believe are partially aware about this sustained situation of crisis.
“India is the most dangerous place in the world to be a baby girl. Newly released data shows that an Indian girl child aged 1-5 years is 75% more likely to die than an Indian boy, making this the worst gender differential in child mortality for any country in the world.”
Focussing on the issue of ‘abandoned girls in New Delhi’ – beginning from girls who are killed prior to being born, and girls who have been abandoned by their families at a very young age primarily because of their sex as a category of social prejudice and discrimination; we wish to make our small attempt in reaching out to them and their concerns.
We believe they have a story to be told, and re-told to the masses, relating it to the larger concerns of female foeticide, forced abortions, selective sex abortion, disowning the girl child after abandoning them in public places, life at the shelter homes- to interact and involve them in a life that contains opportunities we are fortunate to receive.
It could have been our story, but it wasn’t. And we stand to ensure this does not become anyone else’s. We stand up for their rights. We stand up for their 're-birth’.

The initiative is fully supported by the Action Grant provided by Half the Sky Movement, to Campus Ambassador Arpita Mitra, to pursue a Project that promotes and works towards the rights of girl children.
